Veolia Transport renews the contract for the operation of the Las Vegas transportation network
Paris, January 16, 2007 - Veolia Transport's US subsidiary, Veolia Transportation North America, has renewed for two years its contract with the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC), in Southern Nevada (USA), for operating the Las Vegas transportation network. The contract will end on April 6, 2008.
Since 1993, the company has operated the regular scheduled routes of the Citizens Area Transit bus system, as well as the Metropolitan Area Express (MAX) bus line with enhanced passenger comfort and convenience, and the Deuce bus line that serves Las Vegas Strip.
Currently, Veolia Transportation operates 350 vehicles, runs 48 lines and employs 1,200 employees. 200,000 clients daily use the network. This figure has dramatically increased since 1993, up from 15 million passengers annually to 60 million nowadays.
The Las Vegas network has been rated in the top 10 transportation networks in the United States and has received several awards for the quality of service and safety of its lines by the American Public Transportation Association.
