France's Sustainable Development Ministry is entering into the spirit of European Mobility Week, September 16-22.
Created by the European Commission, its goal is to educate the general public about using public transit, cycling and walking as means of transportation.
The EMW also aims to encourage municipalities to promote more sustainable means of transportation and to invest in new infrastructure as needed.
The ultimate goal is to curb transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions, pollution and other nuisances and make travel safer.
This year's theme is "Enhancing Mobility through Digital Alternative Mobility".
