Leslys
An innovative and direct intermodal link to the airport that will spur regional growth
An inventive transit solution
Leslys, the first direct express rail link to an airport in France, is a "light-rail train" able to travel at high commercial speeds (up to 100 kilometers per hour) yet also run on the existing urban light rail system to the city center.
Travel time between the Part-Dieu station and Saint-Exupéry airport is guaranteed to take less than half an hour. If a train runs more than 10 minutes late, passengers may receive a refund equal to one-half or the full price of a one-way ticket.
Comfortable, convenient service
Passenger needs were considered at every step in the project. Leslys always has a ticket agent on board to welcome, inform and assist customers. Departures are scheduled from 5 a.m. to midnight, usually at 15 minute intervals. The last run of the day is guaranteed—even if a flight is late. The rolling fleet was designed specifically for air travelers and features comfortable seats, power outlets for phones and laptop computers, luggage racks and small tables.
Tickets may be purchased on the train, from ticket machines at every Leslys station, on line and soon at partner businesses through an affiliation policy involving travel agents, tour operators, hotels, etc.
Real-time information for passengers
Passengers can check continuously updated information on departure times for flights and soon high-speed trains and watch infotainment programs such as news and weather forecasts on onboard information displays.
Helping to drive regional economic development
Some 5,500 jobs are located near the airport, a number expected to rise with the plans to build new office space. Employees can commute via Leslys and qualify for a special fare.
Veolia Transport and the concession's partners are assuming all business risk associated with the service and will finance future capital investments in equipment and rolling stock.
