- Quantify the operational, energy consumption and environmental benefits of the tramway.
- Help the City of Barcelona achieve its objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 1% a year by delivering a clean and efficient transportation system.
With the development of the tramway, 162,500 m2 of road space has been converted into pedestrian spaces and cycle routes, 135,000 m2 of roads into green planted areas.

Veolia Transport conducted an eco-efficient TravelTM indicator assessment and in-house environmental audit.
Result: recommendations for further integration of the transportation network and future infrastructure developments to connect the two tram lines were made.
