Challenge

SNCM is one of the major operators of passenger, vehicle and freight transportation in the western Mediterranean. All year round it provides regular services between the French mainland and Corsica, as well as international connections to Sardinia, Tunisia and Algeria.

The public ferry network between the Corsica and Marseille ports also supports strong regional objectives. The goal is to maintain this link between all the different areas by ensuring reliability, punctuality and service quality while alsostrengtheningtheeconomicandsocial development of Corsica with minimal negative environmental impacts.

Objectives

  • Provide a reliable and secure ferry service by maintaining a large and modern fleet that is compliant with the International Maritime Organization's safety requirements.
  • Attract new customers and ensure customer loyalty for travelers.
  • Meet commercial and material needs of freight customers: punctuality, enhanced information in case of service disruptions, new roll-on/roll- off terminal, regular communication operations targeting customers and measuring customer satisfaction.
  • Continue efforts to preserve the sensitive Mediterranean maritime environment.

New cutting edge technology at Veolia Campus Corsica: a 360° simulator for operating staff.

Supporting the economic and social development of Corsica

  • Introduction of a new brand, "Via Corsa", to promote Corsica and maritime activities in the area.
  • Establishment of Veolia Campus in Corsica equipped with simulators and training programs dedicated to maritime activities. The Campus is also engaged in social dialogue to increase career opportunities.

Offering an improved and innovative service

  • Anticipation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code.
  • Strengthened commercial action plan with new combined products and services, development of a state of the art reservation system, improved CRM system targeting prospective and returning customers, monitoring of quality service and customer satisfaction.
