CAT Customer mobility Center
Optimizing mobility across the region
Challenge
In 2005, just prior to the renewal of the delegated management contract, Veolia Transport offered to work with the Council of Côtes-d'Armor on implementing a regional customer mobility center.
The challenge was to revitalize the entire region by developing improved and more fluid demand-driven transit services.
Management of the mobility center is included in the delegated management contract for the region.
Objectives
The objectives for this project were to:
- Create a single customer contact point for all requests originating in the region, regardless of the transportation mode;
- Improve passenger information and services;
- Provide an integrated, multimodal transportation service that is connected to the national transit network.
Veolia Transport's solution
In its capacity as advisor to the client, Veolia Transport played a central role in bringing together the various stakeholders and integrating the transportation data:
- Negotiated with all the stakeholders (operators and urban transit authorities, SNCF-State railways, the region, etc.);
- Designed the transportation database, the backbone of the system; integrated the timetables for urban, TER, TGV and regional school bus routes;
- Defined data update procedures.
The Saint-Brieuc mobility center has set a new standard in France.
Since its launch in 2005, it has received 35 groups of visitors, including a delegation from the European Economic and Social Committee and several French Departmental Authorities.
Veolia Transport implements services and systems to facilitate travel across the region, regardless of the transportation mode:
Lastly, Veolia Transport set up and manages a call center specifically for these mobility services: selection of mobility customer service staff based on customer focus, training, and closer relations with operations. All staff provide the complete range of services: reservation, information and zone transport management.
