Reinventing the bus

Vivabus, an interior design for buses, was developed in consultation with passengers and operators.

Years of research and development have gone into Vivabus. It is an innovative approach to modernizing the transit system and its image by providing the comfort, space and amenities that passengers want.

Everything has been done to make the bus more friendly, comfortable and, as a result, more popular with passengers: a modern and attractive design, more comfortable seats, reorganized and flexible space and information on the route, transit system and places of interest in the city. Vivabus combines functionality, practicality and appeal.

By redefining the vehicle's space and improving its image, Veolia Transport aims to increase passenger numbers through increased loyalty of current passengers and by winning over new ones.

Modern design

Thanks to the interior design, the lighting, the materials and the colors used, Veolia Transport offers passengers a friendly and comfortable environment.

• The use of curves for the grab bars and columns creates a warm environment.
• The grab bar knobs and mini-tables are made of wood to add warmth.
• Indirect lighting from several sources gives passengers a greater sense of security.
• The colors proposed are tasteful and soothing.

New seating comfort and flexible space

 Vivabus provides the best possible levels of comfort to passengers and improved flexibility of the interior space.

Vivabus offers an innovative concept in seating based on research and development carried out with designers, medical consultants and ergonomists. Wider and deeper seats are comfortable and shock absorbent. Journeys are less tiring and less likely to produce back pain.

One third of the seats can be used in either the fully seated position or a semi-seated position. This adjustable seat was patented in 1999.

The arrangement of fixed and dual-function seats allows for better passenger flows in the bus.

Vivabus offers more seats during the day and increases comfort during peak periods.

With Vivabus, Veolia Transport offers an active information system

• An active route map can be installed in the vehicle to show the position of the bus along its route in real time. Passengers know where they are at any given time and are reassured about where they are going.
• An electronic display shows each stop together with places of local interest: schools, government services, shopping centers and the like.
• Three backlit panels, in the front of the bus and near the exits, make the information easier to read.
• There is sufficient space to include information about the system, as well as cultural, sporting and community events taking place in the city.
