A partnership focused on customer satisfaction

We operate traditional underground subway systems in Rouen (France) and Stockholm (Sweden).

In Stockholm, Veolia Transport operates the metro system and four light-rail train lines. Veolia Transport was the first private operator to operate metro traffic in Europe. Every day about 500,000 people take just over one million trips on the metro system.

Veolia Transport also has wide experience of operating light rail systems. In France the two largest systems are in Bordeaux and Rouen. In both cases these systems operate in the heart of the cities. In Rouen the line passes in an underground section through the city center, in Bordeaux the light rail cars operate in car-free areas of the historic city center.

Irrespective of the location and type of subway operated, certain principles remain the same in line with the objectives that Veolia Transport lays down before the network is built or responsibility is taken over. Following an expert assessment of the population's needs and expectations, the goal of our engineers and employees is to provide the best possible service.

Constantly seeking new approaches

Veolia Transport is constantly seeking new approaches for systems that have been in operation for a long time. By working in partnership with transit authorities, existing team members, unions and consumer associations, we are able to propose improvements, for instance by delivering better passenger information or by introducing widespread access to Wi-fi services in subway stations.

Because we are part of a major international group, we are able to draw on skills and ideas from a wide variety of areas of expertise when addressing problems. The goal is to take into account specific local characteristics and constraints and to leverage solutions derived from our international innovations that can be applied and that genuinely add value to the transit system.
