Reducing air pollution is a priority at Veolia Transport, which has pledged to cut both fuel consumption and pollutant gas emissions.
Drivers of vehicles operated by Veolia Transport are trained in environmental and "rational" driving, which assesses the connection between driving practices and fuel consumption.
Instruction includes a theoretical segment, covering vehicle technology, factors affecting fuel consumption, speed ratios, braking and safety, and practice driving at a consistent speed by means of anticipation, thereby avoiding too much braking, acceleration and slowing down.
Eco-driving has a number of advantages. It saves on fuel and reduces polluting gas emissions, brake wear and tear and noise pollution; and it is safer and more comfortable, both for drivers and passengers.
